The aim of the 4amproject is to gather a collection of photos from around the world at the magical time of 4am.
Everyone can take part and join in! All you need is a camera. We want to see what you see at that moment in time on that one day. What’s your view at 4am?
The next 4amproject is on 6th December ‘09 so who’s going to brave the winter weather and join the hardy souls out and about with their cameras?
More information can be found at www.4amproject.org and if anyone wants to arrange a meeting spot, please contact The Kington Blackboard (email or using the contact form on About Us).

Hi Nicky,
I was wondering what the Law was now on photography in the street, when I came across this very helpful web site: http://www.sirimo.co.uk/2009/05/14/uk-photographers-rights-v2/ with an excellent downloadable guide. It seems the law is changing slowly, so it is not now as clear cut as it once was.
e.g. “in general the law has not prevented someone taking a photograph of someone else, whether the photographer is on their own land or in a public place. (Though there is recent ECHR case law that suggests that this may be changing, and that in some circumstances, simply taking a photo of someone without their consent will be regarded as an infringement of their right to privacy.)
The photos you take are presumably processed by computer and the photographs of your neighbour would be regarded as personal data within the scope of the Data Protection Act. However, if you are processing personal data only for the purposes of your personal, family or household affairs, then you would be exempt from most of the provisions of the Act”

It seems the under the clock opposite the Burton Hotel is the place to meet – so if you fancy taking part, hopefully see you there at 4am Sun morning!
Nicky.
