Have just phoned Vodafone for an update.
Their engineers are looking at it but “there is no timescale for the repair to be completed”. In other words, I think what the operator was trying to say is that they don’t know what’s wrong, but as soon as they do, they’ll try to fix it.

I’m on T-Mobile, and could get no signal while visiting Kington today. I wonder if they share a transmitter?
